Threads of Gold

My latest foray is evening dresses. This fabric I have had for maybe 4 years.

So elegant and golden I knew it had to be something special. One day I got a halter top I really liked for the first time. I thought, “Hmm, I wonder if that fabric would look good as a halter dress…” Mermaid skirt? Halter top, with draping. Ok, challenge accepted.

I threw the patterns together and cut everything out.

Then meticulously sewed everything.

My favorite part was pinning the pleats for the halter.

As a first timer making a mermaid skirt, I was cautious and did not put as much fabric in the pattern. I realised I definitely prefer a lot more volume in my skirts, and will have to alter my pattern a bit to make it more impressive. But overall, I think I have accomplished what I set out to accomplish.
