The Year of the Water Rabbit brings rampant creativity, travel and prosperity for those born in the years associated with it. I am so excited to see what this new year will bring!

New year, new projects.

It's been some time since so much creativity has held me captive. Look at all these outfits already piling up! I am happily drafting new patterns. When I get back from my mini vacation (New York, where I know I'll buy too much fabric) I'll be able to enjoy several months of sewing.

I wanted to challenge myself with the use of predominantly non-stretch fabrics last year. Skirts of tulle and organza and all those lovely fabrics that give volume. I think I achieved a lot of great work. Definitely I have learned a wealth of new things, but it is now time to make something more practical for me. I love gowns. But I don't wear them often, if ever. I am a pants and jacket type of girl, might as well cater to who I am. This year is the year I conquer these.

This year's learning projects are sharp blazers, badass coats and pants that are long enough!

I have also been following quite a few Russian designers recently. They make the most lovely fur coats. I am obsessed! I crave the super power to make these fabulous garments! Fur, wool, minky and colorful surprise linings with fun patterns, my mind is awash with the possibilities.

Last Year's Recap

Hopefully you managed to slip away and do a bit of sewing. Otherwise it looks like you were probably checking out this post. Seems like everyone loved this dress!

I want you to say:

"It started out as a harmless hobby, who knew it would turn into this rampant necessity."

Give Me Your Feedback

I have a few common questions I get regularly about fabric hunting and resources in Los Angeles. So I'll start there in upcoming posts. However I would love to hear your questions. Tell me what you would like to see more of or know the answer to and I'll try to answer.
