2am.

Attempting to plaster my eyes closed...

You know... I really love fairy blue. But damn, I keep making smooth/standard gowns that colour and I never finish them. I need to stop. But that is really my favourite colour. I really like white too. It's soo elegant on the floor. I already have a white dress though. Maybe I need another one. I want another one.

You know it would be really cool if you did something with gold on it. Never done that before. What sort of pattern? Just accents. What if you did a blue and white dress? They are really cool colours on the floor. Best of both worlds in one dress. You could make one with the blue and the white flanking each other. Then the gold medially.. YES!

Making a drawing and probably would start my project if I had all the materials I needed. Luckily that is not the case so off to bed.

In my usual wanderings downtown, properly in search of materials for the other projects I'm supposed to be finishing, I ended up buying all the materials for this dress; despite my best efforts to convince myself otherwise. So ensued another week of a half a can of soup for breakfast, lunch and dinner. But who cared? My creative vision was more important than my stomach, an unfortunately frequent phenomenon.

It was the circle appliques which almost did not make it into reality. Having to cut out some 48 of these guys was a true test of my dwindling patience. It was pure tenacity and the desire to see my vision realized that got me through those five or six hours; plus good documentaries.

The dress itself was interesting to put together, a simple puzzle. For once I decided not to be lazy and glue the white and blue pieces together. First time where sewing was actually better than gluing. The stoning design did take a little bit of tinkering though. Circles seem simple enough, but they can be a little boring to look at without something to give diversity to their shape.

When the final result arrived I was stunned. Lots of new ground was covered here. Upon second glance I think it would have been better to do a white bodysuit. Ah well. This dress was promptly named Gorgeous by my students and I think that is fitting.
